Nicholas Galitzine, Taylor Zakhar Perez Pairing Up Again for Sequel to 'Red, White & Royal Blue'

Nicholas Galitzine's royal flush of queer roles is set to continue as he hooks up once again with the world of "Red, White & Royal Blue," starring opposite Taylor Zakhar Perez as the two reprise their roles from the 2023 film adaptation of the beloved 2019 novel by Casey McQuiston.

A May 9 press release from Amazon MGM Studios brought word of the project, which was announced at a screening of the film in Culver City.

The release detailed that "the highly anticipated sequel... is in development," and added that screenwriter Matthew López would once again pen the script, "this time alongside 'Red, White & Royal Blue author,' Casey McQuiston," who is also set to executive produce the new movie.

Returning, too, are out producer Greg Berlanti and fellow producer Sarah Schechter.

The fairytale plot of the original film is a winning blend of romance and political intrigue. Prince Henry (Galitzine) – the younger son of England's king and queen, and therefore a "spare" heir to the throne – has known Alex Claremont-Diaz (Zakhar Perez), the gay son of the first woman U.S. president (Uma Thurman), for years, but the two have never gotten along. Is that because they don't like each other – or because they do?

When a PR campaign throws them together, they discover that there's something electric underneath their animosity. Texting leads to more time together, and things take off from there, but will their roles as the scions of two of the world's most powerful families serve to shove them deep into the closet? Or elevate them into role models?

The storyline of the new movie is a state secret, but you can bet it will be hot, given that the first movie, while avoiding anything overly explicit, refused to be coy about the story's sexual content and gleefully steamed up the screen.
