She's Baaack! Disgraced Former Rep. George Santos Promises to Resurrect Drag Persona Kitara – for Cash

Disgraced former Republican lawmaker George Santos says he's bringing back his drag persona "Kitara Ravache" for a limited time only on Cameo... and in support of two charities.

The former pol, who was expelled from the U.S. House of Representatives last December after a brief, scandal-ridden tenure, took to X (formerly Twitter) on April 29 with the news, the New York Post reported.

"I've decided to bring Kitara out of the closet after 18 years!" Santos, who initially denied having had a drag queen past when stories about it first circulated, declared in the post.

Kitara's return will be "for a limited time" on Cameo, Santos posted, claiming that "20% of the proceeds" would be "going to @Tunnel2Towers & @TheFellowship".

"The personalized videos that he creates on Cameo – a digital platform that lets fans pay celebrities to record short, customized videos – will cost $350 each, according to the new account's page," NBC News detailed.

As for the two charities Santos says Kitara's Cameo gig will benefit, "International Fellowship of Christians and Jews... aims to build support for Israel by fostering connections between Jews and Christians," NBC News noted, while "the Tunnel to Towers Foundation... supports first responders, military service members, veterans and, according to its website, helps 'America to Never Forget September 11, 2001.'"

Among the host of scandals that beset Santos' tenure in the House were allegations that he had lied about his education and work history, had committed theft as well as fraud in Brazil and in the U.S., had falsely claimed to be Jewish and the descendant of Holocaust survivors, and had, NBC News recalled, said "that his mother was in the World Trade Center on 9/11," although "records obtained by NBC News in January 2023 showed that Santos' mother was living in Brazil during the 9/11 terrorist attacks."

Moreover, NBC News relayed, the "nonprofit organizations" cited in Santos' post "said in emails that they have not engaged with Santos or his team and that they learned about potential donations only when Santos tweeted it Monday."

NBC News also recalled an incident in which the disgraced former pol had been "accused of refusing to hand over thousands of dollars he allegedly raised for a disabled veteran, whose dog needed life-saving surgery in 2016.

"Santos denied the allegations in an interview with Semafor in 2023," NBC News added.

"Kitara's existence was first reported in January 2023 by journalist Marisa Kabas on her Substack site, the Handbasket," the Post recounted. "Eula Rochard, a Brazilian drag queen and former friend of Santos, told Kabas she met the future Republican lawmaker 'when he was around 16 or 17 years old,'" but added that he didn't make for much of a drag queen.

"George did not have the glamour for that," Rochard said.

Santos is facing nearly two dozen federal charges, "which include money laundering, wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and theft of public funds," NBC News detailed.

Like certain other GOP former officeholders, Santos has insisted on his innocence and claimed that he is the victim of a political "witch hunt." He has also vowed to seek a return to power.
