The Good Wife : The First Season

Just as NBC's Law & Order hits a prime time record with 20 years of continued success, CBS releases on DVD the entire first season of The Good Wife, a court room drama inspired by the 2008 Eliot Sptizer scandal.

Alicia Florrick (Emmy Award winner Julianna Margulies) reenters the workforce after her husband's public sex and political corruption scandal tears their family apart. Returning to a career in law after 13 years presents challenges for Alicia, as she competes with single 20-somethings at the prestigious Chicago law firm that's taken her on as junior associate. Christine Baranski (Cybill, The Birdcage), camps up the screen as high powered attorney Diane Lockhart, and Josh Charles (Threesome) plays Will Gardner, longtime friend to Alicia and partner at the firm. Alicia's husband, Peter, played by Chris Noth, is just as much a scoundrel as Mr. Big in Sex and the City, but that doesn't matter much since most of the story focuses on Alicia and the cases she defends.

Momentum picks up after a lackluster pilot. Tying together family and personal drama against a backdrop of captivating criminal scenarios, The Good Wife is an entertaining court room series with a great deal of potential.
