Amy Winehouse's father greeted mourners laying flowers outside her north London home on Monday, only hours before police promised to release a post mortem on her death.

Mitch Winehouse thanked people for coming to lay bouquets, messages and handwritten notes. He also thanked photographers and camera crews covering the event.

"This means so much to my family," he said.

The 27-year-old singer died Saturday afer publicly struggling with drug and alcohol abuse for years.

Police have said the cause of her death is being treated as "unexplained," and have said speculation that she might have suffered an overdose is "inappropriate."

Police said a post-mortem is expected Monday afternoon.
