Snow White And The Huntsman

Kevin Taft READ TIME: 2 MIN.

The release of "Snow White and the Huntsman: Extended Edition" might be eclipsed by star Kristen Stewart's alleged indiscretion with "Snow White" director Rupert Sanders. With special features that show much of the director, it's hard not to look at him a little suspiciously. It's also uncomfortable when his commentary endlessly praises her. That said, he's a talented director.

"Snow White and the Huntsman" is a dark re-imagining of the classic fairy tale that stars Stewart as the "fairest of them all" as well as Chris "Thor" Hemsworth as the Huntsman and Charlize Theron as the Evil Queen. While much of the film is breathtakingly cool to look at and Theron roars through her take as the worst stepmother ever, the film fails to truly ignite and gets bogged down in its own storytelling. Most notable is the lack of chemistry Stewart has with either of her male co-stars. (Sam Claflin plays her childhood bestie.) Despite this, the film is still enjoyable for the visuals and for Theron who truly sinks her teeth into the role as a desperate woman trying to stay young forever. (No, this isn't the "Real Housewives of the Enchanted Forest.")

There are a number of Bonus Features that are pretty expected, and an extended version of the film that clocks in at a measly four minutes longer than the theatrical version.
