Getaway

JC Alvarez READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Ethan Hawke is one of the most underrated actors of his generation, known for his brooding and emotional roles. Lately, however, Hawke has been inserting himself into more commercial fare. The thespian, who had for a short time shunned mainstream Hollywood, has found some endearing success in blockbuster flicks. The fast-paced action film "Getaway", co-starring teen pop-idol Selena Gomez, isn't necessarily among the most winning of Hawke's streaks, but it is enough to help break a sweat!

Hawke plays a retired race car driver whose wife gets mysteriously kidnapped. He's subsequently forced into a wild ride that eventually involves Gomez, as it races to the finish. The movie barely left skids at the box office, but on Blu-ray the audience is lucky enough to start and stop the action at whim. This will undoubtedly satisfy those who prefer fast and furiously playing through to the action scenes, which are truly a roller coaster ride.

In fact, the Blu-ray bonus features are sometimes more entertaining than the film itself. You can take a look at how the filmmakers created those breathtaking car chases, and crash scenes. The things that they did to the film's "other star," the Ford Shelby at the center of the action, should be criminal itself, but the car aficionado will appreciate a look at how the vehicle was built to survive the most intense shots. And for those still longing for more on the former sweetheart of the Bieber - the young starlet Selena Gomez takes fans on a tour of the set.

"Getaway" isn't going to win any awards, but it'll make for a good distraction, especially for those with a need for speed.
