NEW YORK -- "The Nance" starring Nathan Lane has already been on Broadway. Now get ready for its appearance on movie screens and TV.

A recording of Douglas Carter Beane's play will be broadcast to more than 300 movie theaters in the U.S. and Canada beginning June 23. The play will also be featured on "Live From Lincoln Center" this fall on PBS.

In the play, Lane plays a "nance" - a show business term for a stereotypically camp gay man. His character is struggling both with his identity and frustration with society's hypocrisy toward homosexuality.

Lane, a Tony winner for "The Producers" and "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," got a best actor Tony nomination for the role last year. The play also was nominated.
