Pink Lake Returns: The Ultimate Austrian Summer Party

Matthew Wexler READ TIME: 3 MIN.

The international LGBT community will once again be flocking to Austria's gorgeous Lake Woerthersee August 28-31 for Pink Lake, a frolicking weekend of parties, hot guys and gals, drag queens and outdoor adventures.

The official opening event of the festival, the Almdudler Trachtenparty (Austrian Folk Costume Party) will be held this year at Gemonaplatz -- directly in the center of the lovely and charming city of Velden. Guests will again dress up in traditional or funky lederhosen and dirndl outfits and celebrate a quite rowdy and festive evening including great live music and performances.

Of course, Pink Lake's Society Ladies, the beloved Berlin Drag Queens Mataina & Melli, will once again guide guests through the evening extravaganza. A very special and creative Schuhplattler (a traditional Austrian dance) dance troupe will demonstrate its versatile abilities. And based on countless guest requests, the charismatic and handsome Franky Leitner will again bring the house down with his lively and energetic music.

On the second evening, guests will be attending the Pink Lake Just Dance! Club Night in the newly renovated Casino Velden. And on Saturday night, everyone will literally be rocking the boat in the middle of the Lake Woerthersee with hot music and cool drinks aboard the Troika Boat Cruise Party. To date, each of these events has attracted more than 1,000 participants from Austria, Germany and countries all over the world.

New in 2014

The daily Pink Lake Beach Club has a particularly fabulous location this year: the SOL Beachclub. With its outstanding location directly on the lake, guests can enjoy the stunning views of Velden's turqoise bay and its Alpen backdrop, from morning until sunset. This top event location on Lake Woethersee offers wide stretches of sandy beach and an enormous roof terrace -- all exclusive for guests of Pink Lake 2014 -- plus a very spacious lounge area with a cocktail bar and casual lakefront restaurant.

In the Pink Lake Beach Club guests can relax and play during the day, sunbathing, swimming, chilling, cruising, enjoying delicious snacks and drinks, and also participating in the many water sports and activities offered during the festival. Pink Lake has also invited a topnotch artist and body painter (a very popular art form in Austria), who -- with the help of a very attractive model -- will bring a lot of color to this year's Beach Club. Hot Tip: Every 30 minutes Captain Didi's "Speed Line" boat will serve as a shuttle transport for Pink Lake guests from the boat dock in Velden (Dock 2 ) directly to the SOL Beach Club.

Guests this year will enjoy the new official flagship, partner hotel of the Pink Lake 2014 festival 2014, the Hotel Park's Velden, which is adjacent to the SOL Beach Club. Guests can enjoy a breathtaking view of the picturesque bay of Velden, a wellness and spa area with direct access to the lake, an indoor swimming pool with a Jacuzzi and a sumptuous late-riser gourmet breakfast until 11 a.m. in the restaurant or outdoors in the late summer sun on the terrace.
