Lively Qualifies for Massachusetts Governor's Race

Apparently there are a lot of "Massholes" who are registered to vote this fall.

The moniker "Liberal Massachusetts" proved to be somewhat of a misnomer Wednesday, when it was reported that extremist anti-gay activist Pastor Scott Lively received over the required 10,000 valid signatures from state residents in support of his bid as an independent candidate for governor of the Bay State.

Mass Live reports Massachusetts's Secretary of the Commonwealth's office confirmed Wednesday that Lively's campaign submitted 11,494 valid signatures needed to get his name on the ballot as an independent candidate for the 2014 gubernatorial race.

Lively heads the Southern Poverty Law Center designated anti-gay hate group Abiding Truth Ministries and is the author of the 1995 revisionist "history" tome "The Pink Swastika," which asserts that "the Nazi Party was conceived, organized and controlled throughout its short history by masculine-oriented male homosexuals."

In March, Lively participated in a televised candidate forum on "LGBTQ issues" at the Boston Public Library where he not only claimed bragging rights to influencing Russia's anti-gay propaganda law, but also promised to enact similar legislation in Massachusetts.

"As governor I would ban LGBT propaganda to children," Lively told the audience. "This is a law that I advocated for in Russia. They have found it to be successful for their society. There remains no objective proof that homosexuality is innate and unchangeable despite decades of effort which means that it is an acquired condition.

"We must assume that that's true and if that assumption is true, then it is extraordinarily irresponsible to be treating our children as guinea pigs in a massive social experiment," he continued. "They should be protected from the promotion of homosexuality as good, normal alternative choice for themselves."

In August of 2013, a U.S. federal judge ruled that a case filed by a Ugandan LGBT advocacy group against Lively for his collaboration with religious and government officials in Uganda that led to the introduction of the African nation's "Kill the Gays" bill, will be allowed to proceed. The ruling marked first time a federal US judge called the persecution of LGBT persons a crime against humanity.

Lively will appear on the November ballot for governor of Massachusetts with the yet to be determined Republican and Democratic nominees as well as independent candidate Evan Falchuk.
