Under The Dome - Season 2

Ken Tasho READ TIME: 2 MIN.

Getting as far away from its source material as possible, "Under the Dome: Season 2" offered up another breezy season of escapism during the summer months of 2014. Its Blu-ray release, with a slew of special features, is a no-brainer of a purchase for fans of the sci-fi thriller.

Author Stephen King writes the premiere episode of Season Two. It's a breathtaking 45 minutes where numerous high-voltage events occur, including the demise of certain characters, sucking the viewer in for another bumpy ride in the world of "Under the Dome." The remaining episodes are confusing and convoluted at times, straying from King's novel and basically making up its own rules during the season (just how many times do we need to hear about that damn egg)?

The reliability of the show's key stars (Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, and Dean Norris), along with the small-town look of the fictional Chester's Mill, helps erase any inconsistencies in this sophomore season.

Eleven bonus features span this 4-disc set:

"Inside Chester's Mill" -- features highlights from Season One to get the viewer caught up

"Readings from the Dome" -- key scenes are read from the screenplay of the premiere episode by King and the actors

"Filming the Season Premiere" -- an on-set look at the show's Season 2 premiere

"Stephen King & Season 2" -- King discusses his involvement in Season 2

"Welcome Back to Chester's Mill" -- examines the character transformations from Season 1 to Season 2

"A Journey Through Season 2" -- recommended to watch after viewing this Blu-ray's episodes

"The Transmedia World" -- takes a look at how digital media is featured in the show

Also included on disc 3 are "The Visual Effects of Season 2", "Ready for Action" (a 2-part featurette), 3 deleted scenes, and a gag reel.
