Jason St. Amand READ TIME: 1 MIN.
"American Horror Story" show runner Ryan Murphy confirmed on Twitter Wednesday afternoon that "AHS" veteran Kathy Bates will return to the FX anthology series for its upcoming fifth season, subtitled "Hotel."
As the Hollywood Reporter points out, Bates' involvement with "Hotel" has been rumored for months. This will be the third time the 66-year-old actress will appear in "AHS." She made her debut on season three, "American Horror Story: Coven" as Delphine LaLaurie, a real-life murderous New Orleans socialite (for which she picked up an Emmy award) and starred in season four, "American Horror Story: Freak Show" as the bearded lady, Ethel Darling
Bates joins Lady Gaga, Matt Bomer, Chloe Sevigny, Wes Bently and Cheynne Jackson for "Hotel," the first season not to feature leading lady Jessica Lange.
As the Hollywood Reporter notes, Evan Peters, who has been in all four season of "AHS," said he wasn't sure if he was going to be asked back for "Hotel," but was hopeful for a return.
