Palins Defend Duggar, Blast Lena Dunham: 'You Pedophile, You'

Sarah Palin and daughter Bristol Palin are the latest GOP celebrities to get in on the scandal surrounding Josh Duggar of "19 Kids an Counting" fame, who has been making headlines after it was revealed he molested underage girls, including his own sisters, when he was a teen.

E! Online points out, the Palins are up-in-arms over the way "liberal media" is attacking the Duggars and claim "Girls" star and creator Lena Dunham, gets a "total pass" for "sexually experimenting" with her sister.

In Dunham's 2014 book, "Not That Kind of Girl: A Young Woman Tells You What She's Learned," she wrote about examining her sister's genitals when she was a child, trading her candy for kisses and casually masturbating while they were in bed. At the time, the passage sparked controversy, and Dunham came under fire from a number of conservative media outlets.

In Bristol Palin's attack, which was published Thursday on the faith-based website Patheos, she claims there are "double standards" when it comes to the way the media reported the Duggar scandal and Dunham's book.

"I can't believe how crazy the media is going over the Duggar family compared to the big fat yawn they gave Lena Dunham when she wrote in her book that she sexually experimented with her sister," she wrote.

Bristol Palin, 24, also included a portion of Dunham's passage in question, where Dunham writes she "would do anything a sexual predator might do" to her sister in addition to supposedly using her "as a sexual outlet, bribing her to kiss her for prolonged periods and even masturbating" while she was in bed next to her. The former "Dancing With the Stars" contestant turned recent runaway bride goes on to blast the media's reception of Dunham's "honest and witty" book.

Though her post was short, it didn't take long for her mother Sarah Palin, 51, to get in on the action. The former Alaska governor took to Facebook Thursday to echo her daughter's comments but, of course, took things further by calling Dunham a pedophile.

"HEY LENA, WHY NOT LAUGH OFF EVERYONE'S SEXUAL 'EXPERIMENTS' AS YOU HAUGHTILY ENJOY REWARDS FOR YOUR OWN PERVERSION? YOU PEDOPHILE, YOU," her opening line reads, yes in all caps. "The intolerant left's destructive personal intrusions and narrow-mindedness applied to their chosen targets are bad enough, but their double standards are beyond the pale," she later adds.

Sarah Palin does say, however, that she does not condone what Josh Duggar did, though she believes Dunham should be held accountable for her actions.

"I'm not defending the Duggar boy's obvious wrongdoing over a decade ago. The main victim in any story like this isn't the perpetrator, it's the innocent ones so harmfully affected. I'm not an apologist for any sexual predator, but I'm sickened that the media gives their chosen ones a pass for any behavior as long as they share their leftwing politics," she added. "Case in point, they suggest Lena Dunham's sexual assault on her sibling is cute, and she's rewarded for it with fame and fortune. Meanwhile, they crucify another, along with an entire family."

Sarah Palin also said the situation showed "double standards applied to equally relevant stories underestimate the wisdom of the public, discredit the press, and spit on the graves of every American who fought and died for the press's freedom."

"I hate for anyone to go through this game liberals are allowed to play, relentlessly attacking on an uneven playing field until a conservative's career, relationships, and reputation are destroyed," she continued. "To the media's targets I encourage, 'Rise above by never claiming 'victim', tell the truth, and keep the faith!'"

Dunham has yet to comment on the Palins' remarks. But the 29-year-old actress took to social media last year after she was blasted from right wingers about her controversial passage.

"The right wing news story that I molested my little sister isn't just LOL- it's really fucking upsetting and disgusting," she tweeted at the time. "And by the way, if you were a little kid and never looked at another little kid's vagina, well, congrats to you. Usually this is stuff I can ignore but don't demean sufferers, don't twist my words, back the f--k up bros. I told a story about being a weird 7 year old. I bet you have some too, old men, that I'd rather not hear. And yes, this is a rage spiral. Sometimes I get so mad I burn right up. Also I wish my sister wasn't laughing so hard."
