Trump Announces Bid for the White House

The GOP's 2016 presidential class just gained another high-profile name: Donald Trump,Associated Press reports.

Trump officially announced his 2016 bid Tuesday.

"We are going to make our country great again," he said in front of supporters at a Manhattan skyscraper that bears his name.

With a presidential field approaching 20 high-profile Republicans, the GOP's 2016 class offers voters a little bit of everything.

"We need somebody who can take the brand of the United States and make it great again," he said.

ABC News notes that The Donald said, "the U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else's problems."

"My father succeeds, time and time again, where government has failed," Trump's daughter Ivanka said when introducing the announcement. "I can tell you that there is no better person than my father to have in your corner."

There is already a crowded group of GOP hopefuls who have announced or are expected to announce candidacy. The group includes former Senators Rand Paul, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz as well as retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Senator Lindsey Graham, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker.
