Boston's bisexual community will gather at Club Caf on Friday, September 25 to celebrate the Bisexual Resource Center's 30th anniversary and to mark International Celebrate Bisexuality Day.

"We have a lot to celebrate this year," said BRC Co-President Kate Estrop. "In addition to the tremendous, impactful work our volunteers and board members have contributed to the bisexual community, we will also be participating in a White House Bisexual Community Policy Briefing earlier that same week. This policy briefing will allow our community leaders to provide recommendations that can better serve the bisexual community on a national level."

The BRC was founded in 1985, first named the East Coast Bisexual Network, and is the oldest national bisexual organization in the U.S. Started in 1999, International Celebrate Bisexuality Day is an occasion to honor the culture, history, and achievements of the bisexual community. This is also the second year of Bisexual Awareness Week, a campaign that works toaccelerate the cultural acceptance of bisexual people across the U.S. and beyond.

In recognition of this annual event, the Bisexual Resource Center is hosting a Boston-based dance party on Friday, September 25 at Club Caf, 209 Columbus Ave in Boston, from 7-9:45 p.m. The festivities will include presentations of Unsung Hero and Bi Ally Awards, which honor volunteers and organizations that support the bisexual community. This event is also co-sponsored by BiNet USA as part of their support for local events across the country for Bisexual Awareness Week.

Five members of the BRC board and several other Boston activists will be participating in the September 21 White House Meeting, only the second time that bi leaders have met with the Obama Administration about bi-specific issues. There will be over 80 bi activists from around the country meeting in DC to discuss bisexual health disparities, intimate partner violence and sexual assault programs, workplace discrimination and more.

The BRC is the oldest national bi organization in the U.S. that advocates for bisexual visibility and raises awareness about bisexuality throughout the LGBTQ and straight communities. The BRC envisions a world where love is celebrated, regardless of sexual orientation or gender expression.
