Modern Family - The Complete Sixth Season

New to DVD is the 3 disc "Modern Family: The Complete Sixth Season" released by 20th Century Fox Home Video.

For fans of "Modern Family" this newest incarnation of the complete season ranks as a pleasant added surprise, solely for two reasons - the bonus features and 24 complete episodes within and a knowing nod to the juggernaut unstoppable comedy that this show has become.

Once "Modern Family" got past the fully expected and pastiche story arc of Cam and Mitch getting married, the writing in Season 6, seems to have gotten back to its comedy roots, and re-earthed a slightly more genuine, fun rhythm with its characters. Season Six's highlights include a wacky set of red neck rich neighbors for Phil & Claire; Jay bowling for the gay leagues; Gloria and Jay's new addition getting older; and members of the Pritchett-Dunphy clan preparing for the college and professional life. A stand out episode for Season 6 is the episode shot entirely on smart phones and tablets.

Season Six also saw some great guest stars on the show itself, including the wonderfully delightful Michael Urie ("Ugly Betty," "Buyer & Cellar"). Special Features include; An Awesome Halloween add-on; A Modern Thanksgiving; The Making of An Episode; a day with Julie Bowen; and deleted scenes and gag reels.

Is there no stopping the success of "Modern Family?" Hopefully it's delightful story-lines and heartfelt moments will continue in Seasons 7-10 and beyond as well as Season Six seems to stand up to its entertainment capabilities.
