Seventy-five Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Murfreesboro, Tennessee will have to find somewhere else to convene. The church where they have been holding their meetings has asked them to leave over the national organization's acceptance of gay adult leaders. Daily News Journal reports.

"The North Boulevard Church of Christ after a greatdeal of thought and a great deal of discussion among their eldersdecided to drop their charter with the Boy Scouts of America and the Middle Tennessee Council," Boy Scout executive Larry Brown told DNJ.

Brown said he had talked with elders of the church and had hoped they might change their minds to end the charter.

"I think they struggled with it some," Brown said. "They believe in scouting. They believe inthe leadership. They believe in and trust the current leadership of the pack and the troop."

The ban on gay adult leaders was dropped in July following a vote by the Boy Scouts of America's top policy-making board. While some religions such as the Mormons kept their affiliation with the scouts, there have been reported incidents such as the church in Murfreesboro where individual churches have severed ties with the organization.

In August, AP reported that a Presbyterian church in South Carolina announced it was dropping its nearly 50-year association with the Boy Scouts over the move to accept gay leaders.
