LOCS Collective Announces 4th Annual Lesbians of Color Symposium

On Saturday, March 19, The Lesbians of Color Symposium Collective (LOCSC), Inc in collaboration with Harvard Law School (HLS) LAMBDA hosts New England's�4th Annual Lesbians of Color Symposium (LOCS) at Harvard Law School's Wasserstein Hall.���

"Join us and other LBTQ women of color and our allies for a day of empowerment, culture, and solidarity!," write organizers.

The event welcomes lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and queer-identified (LBTQ) women of color and our allies for a day of empowerment to celebrate and acknowledge the presence of women of color in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community.�A series of workshops focused on health/wellness, gender expression, activism, and other topics relevant to the attendees will be facilitated by regionally and nationally recognized advocates of equality.�

Kaila Adia Story, Ph.D., an Associate Professor in the Departments of Women's & Gender Studies and Pan-African Studies and the Audre Lorde Chair in Race, Class, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Louisville is the event's keynote speaker. Her research examines the intersections of race and sexuality, with special attention to Black feminism, Black lesbians, and Black queer identity.��Dr. Story has appeared on Huffington Post Live a number of times discussing issues that relate to race, sexuality, popular music, and gender.

The 2016 LOCS will feature guest speakers�Be Steadwell,�Tiona McClodden�and�ONYX Restorative Justice. LOCSC, Inc. provides community and cultivates resources for lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer (LBTQ) identified women of color and our allies. We do this through advocacy, education, programming and counseling. Additionally, LOCSC hosts an annual conference that celebrates and unites our diverse sisterhood.

The Lesbians of Color Symposium (LOCS) Collective Inc. is a nonprofit community organization founded in 2012, dedicated to the service and support of the lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer identified women of color and our allies.��More specifically, we provide community and cultivate resources through advocacy, education, programming and networking.�

The 4th Annual Lesbians of Color Symposium will be held on Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Harvard Law School's Wasserstein Hall, 1585 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge, MA.�Preregistration in $45.
