33 LGBT Athletes to Compete in Rio Olympics

Achieving record-level numbers, The 2016 Summer Olympics will feature the largest number of LGBT athletes, according to OutSports.

At least 33 athletes are out and ready to compete along with three coaches. Married couple Helen and Katie Richardson-Walsh both make the list.

The openly LGBT coaches are: Alyson Annan from the Dutch women's field hockey team, Oua Sybdgage 0f Sweden's women's soccer team and Jill Ellis of the U.S. women's soccer team.

Of the list, only ten of the LGBT athletes are male. Five of the athletes reign from the United States, including basketball athlete Simone Augustus.

The opening ceremony for the Rio Olympics begins in three weeks.
