Celebrate National Dog Day With Life-Saving Tech
EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.
August 26 is National Dog Day, and PetPace, the provider of an innovative health-monitoring smart collar, wants dog owners to learn more about their pet's health, especially if their dog is aging, sick or at risk for developing disease.
National Dog Day was founded in 2004 and celebrates dogs of all breeds, both pure and mixed. Each year the holiday honors family dogs, service dogs and dogs working in first responder roles. National Dog Day also serves as a reminder of the large number of dogs in need of rescue or adoption across the U.S.
PetPace was created by veterinarians and animal-lovers looking for a way to improve the health of pets, especially those that are old or sick. The idea behind inventing a non-invasive health monitoring smart collar was to quickly identify impending health concerns and monitor existing medical conditions.
The device allows pet owners to track vital signs like temperature, pulse, respiration and Heard Rate Variability (HRV), among other things and will immediately send alerts to the owner through a smartphone app if it detects any abnormalities.
"At PetPace we love dogs. We've dedicated our lives to creating a technology that allows pet owners to improve and extend their pet's lives," said Dr. Asaf Dagan, the chief veterinarian of PetPace. "National Dog Day is an amazing holiday because it reminds us of how important dogs are and what we can do to improve their standard of life."
In addition to receiving smartphone alerts of impending medical emergencies, PetPace's mobile application provides an in-depth look into nearly every metric of a pet's health. Recorded data is displayed in easy to understand graphical interface, making it easy to monitor specific aspects of a pet's health over time. This feature is especially useful for owners caring for older or sick pets
Four out of five veterinarians recommend a health monitoring collar like PetPace for older or sick pets.
PetPace was founded in 2012 to bring peace of mind to pet owners and prevent unnecessary pain and suffering for dogs and cats through improved pet health and quality of life. PetPace specializes in the remote monitoring of pet vital signs by utilizing advanced analytical methods and alerting models.
The company's low power, wireless collar is fitted with an array of sensors that report abnormal vital signs within established physiological and behavioral parameters. Once an abnormal sign or behavior is detected, a sophisticated cloud-based analytical engine evaluates the signs and if needed, sends an immediate alert regarding any suspected condition. This allows the owner or the vet to take preemptive action to protect the pet's health.
