Amy Ray Performs With Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Beacon Theatre

EDGE READ TIME: 1 MIN.

Amy Ray is taking time from touring with the Indigo Girls to perform with her country band. She's been invited to support the Tedeschi Trucks Band -- Susan Tedeschi sings on Ray's track "Duane Allman," an ode to the late Allman Brothers' guitarist -- this Friday, September 30 at the Beacon Theatre.

Ray is bringing her country band and playing songs from her country-inspired solo album, "Goodnight Tender," along with songs from her previous solo records and "a few new things."

"Goodnight Tender" finds the Georgia native exploring her Southern musical roots -- country, gospel and roots. "Goodnight Tender" marks a dramatic departure from Ray's previous work, both as a solo artist and an Indigo Girl. The songs were written over more than a decade.

Ray recorded the album in Asheville, NC along with a group of trusted artists and collaborators, including Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and guest vocalists Susan Tedeschi, Heather McEntire (Mt. Moriah), Kelly Hogan (Neko Case) and members of Megafaun. Ray's sessions included fiddle, banjo, dobro, pedal steel, guitar, mandolin, bass, and drums gathered 'round a few microphones to create an authentic, vintage sound.

Ray and her band have recently performed on Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour, NPR Mountain Stage, Music City Roots in Nashville, TN and more.
