November 20 is the Annual Transgender Day of Remembrance
EDGE READ TIME: 2 MIN.
November 20 is the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance. This is a day to memorialize those whose lives were lost due to anti-transgender fear, bigotry and hatred. Around the world, communities have planned vigils to come together and remember those who have died in the past year.
In addition to participating in the official Transgender Day of Remembrance events, many students and educators find opportunities on this day to address the experiences of transgender and gender nonconforming students who often experience hostile school environments.
Here are some things you can do to counteract anti-transgender bias, prejudice and discrimination in your school:
Make a Commitment to Support Transgender Youth
Learn More About the Issues
Get Involved and Take Action
