LCR Lauds Trump as 'Real Friend to the LGBT Community'
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
With rumors of a possible anti-LGBT executive order from the White House in the works, gay conservative group Log Cabin Republicans are heaping praise on President Donald Trump for not reversing President Barrack Obama's executive order extending workplace protections to LGBT employees of federal contractors.
"Donald Trump campaigned promising to be a'real friend' to the LGBT community, and now President Trump is delivering on that commitment.," Log Cabin Republicans President Gregory T. Angelo stated. "Log Cabin Republicans is proud to have directly advocated for this important preservation of LGBT equality in the federal workforce, and heartened to see that the recommendations prescribed inour white paper on this subjecthave been reflected in the Trump Administration's decision to maintain the LGBT Non-Discrimination Executive Order."
Angelo's praise of Trump may end up being short-lived, premature or both. On Monday, rumors circulated on the beltway about an anti-LGBT executive order that was being prepared by the Trump administration. Those rumors prompted White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer to dodge a question about the rumor from Washington Blade reporter Chris Johnson.
"I'm not getting ahead of the executive orders that we may or may not issue," Spicer said. "There's a lot of executive orders, a lot of things the president has talked about and will continue to fulfill, but we have nothing on that front now."
