Watch: Interactive Google Doodle Takes Us Through 50 Years of Pride
Sam Cronin READ TIME: 1 MIN.
Google Doodles are famously cute and topical reminders of important historical events that happened on any given day, and have ranged from celebrating celebrity birthdays to commemorating political movements. The newest Doodle is an interactive slideshow to walk through 50 years of LGBTQ+ Pride, in honor of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall riots.
This month's Pride celebrations have the historical weight of half a century of progress since Stonewall on their shoulders, and many cities' Pride festivals are leading remembrances to the event. This interactive Google Doodle is another small reminder of the importance of the Stonewall riots in forwarding LGBTQ+ rights.
The slideshow of doodles features one for each decade of Pride parades, and showcases the gaining momentum the movement has had over this past 50 years. Another bonus Pride month feature on Google is a rainbow banner on search results for terms related to Pride and the community. Try searching for "gay pride" or something similar to see it in action!
