'Drag Race' Creators Say They're Working on More International Versions of Reality Show

The creators behind "RuPaul's Drag Race" say that you can expect more international version of the mega-hit reality show.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, series executive producers and co-creators Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey talked about franchising "Drag Race" beyond America, U.K., Thailand, South America, Australia and Canada.

"There are more territories we're talking about for original versions of 'Drag Race'," said Bailey, adding there are "three or four in the works right now."

Barbato went on to say that World of Wonder, the production company behind "Drag Race," is considering making more seasons of "RuPaul's Secret Celebrity Drag Race," a four-episode series that found a number of celebs getting drag makeovers from former "Drag Race" contestants.

"We feel like that's a new baby," he said. "I think people got it and responded, and it helped further communicate that big idea of you're born naked and the rest is drag, and we're hoping to produce more of those."

Barbato also talked about the idea of a Las Vegas "'Drag Race' casino" to accompany the "Drag Race Live!' residency show, which opened in January at the Flamingo resort.

"Coronavirus put a pause in things there, but we're excited for its return," Bailey told EW of the postponed production. "When it gets back on its feet, that can run and run."

The show was set to feature "Drag Race" stars Asia O'Hara, Derrick Barry, Kameron Michaels, Naomi Smalls, Vanessa "Vanjie" Matteo, and Yvie Oddly with a musical narrative from RuPaul and Jamal Sims.
