After Social Media Hiatus, RuPaul Scrubs Twitter & Instagram

READ TIME: 1 MIN.

For the last three months RuPaul has been silent on social media, despite crowning Jaida Essence Hall the winner of "RuPaul's Drag Race" Season 12 and filming a quarantine reunion episode for the show. But on Thursday, things got even more odd when fans realized that Mama Ru scrubbed both his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

As of this writing, Ru's Twitter account "does not exist" while his Instagram is still up and running but has 0 posts. The deletions come after what appears to be a break from social media for Ru, who hadn't posted anything since March and hasn't said anything during the coronavirus pandemic or anything about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Fans also noticed that "Drag Race" Season 11 queen Kameron Michaels also scrubbed her social media profiles. It's unclear if that happens to be a coincidence or that something is connected.

Ru caught a bit of controversy back in March when he spoke with NPR's Terry Gross about his Wyoming ranch he and his husband own. During their interview, he seemingly admitted to fracking. Click here to read more about that.

Nevertheless, VH1 is currently airing "RuPaul's Drag Race All-Stars" Season 5, which was filmed before the pandemic, and the spinoff series "Canada Drag Race" begins Thursday night, though Ru isn't hosting that show.

Twitter users were quick to react to Ru's missing social media accounts. Below are some of the best responses.
