In a new interview with Variety, Welsh actor Luke Evans (Gaston in 2017's live-action film version of "Beauty and the Beast" and TV's "The Alienist") discusses the upcoming "Beauty and the Beast" prequel series on Disney Plus.

Reprising his role as Gaston, Evans reveals that he and co-star Josh Gad (starring as LeFou) have heard new music composed by Alan Menken specifically for the series. Offering no details about Menken's new music, nonetheless, "we are so excited about this," Evans says, stating that he and Gad have already "read through two or three episodes now."

Similarly, Evans also hints at the "smorgasbord of cameos" on the series while keeping the details secret. "You never know who will pop up on this show," he teases.

Elsewhere in the interview, Evans discusses the potential for limited series runs to emerge from films, as well as his series "The Alienist" and whether or not it will receive another season, and his habit of collecting rings from every character he's played.
