READ TIME: 2 MIN.
Amid rumors that their relationship is on the rocks, Kanye West took to Twitter Tuesday evening to say he's considering divorcing his wife Kim Kardashian West for years in a since-deleted tweet, People magazine reports. Kim has since responded to her husband's public outbursts.
Kanye said he's been considering leaving Kim since 2008 when she met with rapper Meek Mill during a criminal justice reform summit.
"I've been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Warldolf for 'prison reform,'" the rapper tweeted. "Meek is my man and was respectful That's my dog Kim was out of line I'm worth 5 billion dollars and more than that through Christ But ya'll ain't listen to MJ and now ya'll believe them???"
Kanye went on to call out Kris Jenner, Kim's mother and his mother-in-law, who he called "Kris Jong-Un," referring to North Korea's dictator.
"Kriss and Kim put out a statement without my approval ... that's not what a wife should do," the "Bound 2" rapper wrote.
People notes it's unclear what statement Kanye is referring to in his now-deleted tweet.
After Kanye's deleted his tweets, Kim responded in her Instagram Stories, noting that her husband has bipolar disorder.
"Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand," she wrote. "I've never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye's right to privacy when it comes to his health."
Kim goes on to say that she now feels "like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health." She adds that she "understand[s] Kanye is subject to criticism."
"He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressure of being an artist and a Black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bipolar disorder," she writes. "Those who are close with Kanye know his heart and understand his words some times do not align with his intentions."
Kim goes on to "ask the media and public give us the compassion and empathy that is needed so that we can get through this."
"Thank you for those who have expressed concern for Kanye's well being and for your understanding," Kim adds.
