Twitter Reacts to 'Pose,' Queer Emmy Snubs
READ TIME: 1 MIN.
The Emmy nominations were announced Tuesday morning and though actor Billy Porter earned a nod for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series for his work on "Pose," a number of people on Twitter are taking issue that show's trans women didn't earn any recognition.
Porter was nominated last year and won, becoming the first openly gay black man to be nominated and win in any lead acting category at the Emmys. But despite Porter's success, Twitter users are voicing their ire at the voting academy who ignored the trans stars in "Pose," which follows a number of trans people of color through New York City's ballroom scene during the 80s and 90s.
Not just that but many folks were upset with the lack of queer and trans nominations for both actors and shows. Find the reactions to the Emmys subs below, which include tweets from the "Pose" cast and crew.
