Instagram Slaps Censor on Madonna's Conspiracy Theory COVID Post

Instagram is censoring a post made by Madonna where she shared a controversial video of a doctor falsely claiming that "hydroxychloroquine cures COVID," Forbes reports.

After her post went live, Instagram was quick to flag it for spreading misinformation. The same viral video was also tweeted by President Donald Trump before it got taken down by Twitter.

"The truth will set us all Free! But some people don't want to hear the truth," Madonna captioned her post, which has since been deleted. She also claimed that "authorities were hiding the cure for the coronavirus," Vulture writes, adding that "Instagram debunked the claims from the video on Madonna's post, noting that there is no known cure for the coronavirus."

The video shows "Houston-based doctor Stella Immanuel, claiming that she had treated 350 coronavirus patients using the anti-malarial drug and that 'none of them had died,' alongside a group identifying as 'America's Frontline Doctors' in front of the Supreme Court," Forbes writes.

Of course, this isn't the first time Madonna has found herself in controversy with regards to the coronavirus. Back in May, the Material girl told her Instagram followers she has "antibodies" and that she planned to go for a car ride where she will "breathe in the COVID-19 air." She also claimed that she had COVID during her Madame X tour earlier this year. Before that, she found herself in the headlines for calling the coronavirus "the great equalizer."
