Sam Jay Brings Her '3 in the Morning' Stand-Up to Netflix
Jim Provenzano READ TIME: 1 MIN.
As the first Black lesbian writer for 'Saturday Night Live,' comic Sam Jay's stand-up show is now on Netflix, breaking new ground there as well.
Since working as a writer for SNL in 2017, Jay's sketches include a few hits, like "Black Jeopardy" with guest-host Eddie Murphy, and "Cha Cha Slide," about an interracial couple easing into a wedding party.
"At the end of the day, we're all just up there searching for our voice and trying to tell our story, and I have one story of a Black lesbian woman," Jay said in a recent Fast Company interview. "But it's just one. There's so many out there. And so my story may not be everybody's experience. I just hope that it reaches the people who can be moved by it [and that they] are moved by it, the people that can be helped are helped, and the people that can be changed are changed."
