Anderson Cooper on Life as a New Father
Kevin Schattenkirk READ TIME: 1 MIN.
In a recent profile, CNN anchor Anderson Cooper discussed the impact of becoming a father to 3-month-old son Wyatt:
"It's changed everything. I've often in my life felt like I was waiting for my actual life to begin – it's obviously ridiculous because I'm 53 years old – but... I've been very focused on getting to some place, getting a story. Because I'm focused on him, it gives an order to everything."
On his day-to-day routine, Anderson has stopped using an alarm in the morning and naturally awakens. "My whole motivation in the morning is to be there when my son wakes up because it is the greatest moment of my day." And admits to drinking coffee in the morning instead of eating breakfast. Cooper has also found support in his friend Andy Cohen, also a new parent to 1-year-old son Benjamin. And Benjamin's nanny has been hired to assist Cooper in raising Wyatt. Cooper's former partner Benjamin Maisani is co-parenting Wyatt.
