The upcoming queer Christmas romcom "Happiest Season," starring a number of out actors including Kristen Stewart and Dan Levy, will debut on Hulu next month instead of heading to theaters, Deadline reports.

Due to the pandemic and many theaters in the U.S. still closed, Sony Pictures has decided to release the comedy, directed by Clea DuVall, which will hit the streamer on Nov. 25.

"Happiest Season" follows Abby (Stewart) as she plans to propose to her girlfriend Harper (Mackenzie Davis) during Harper's family Christmas dinner. Things go awry when it's revealed that Harper isn't out to her parents.

Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Daniel Levy, Mary Holland, Burl Moseley, Victor Garber and Mary Steenburgen also star in the film.

"This holiday season – more than any other – we could all use a little happiness. It was essential to Sony Pictures and to the filmmakers that Clea's marvelous and fresh holiday-themed romantic comedy comes out when the lights are on the trees," Nicole Brown, President of TriStar Pictures, told Deadline. "We are excited that Hulu is geared up to make this happen in the U.S. and grateful that they love the movie as much as we do."
