'Awful, Abusive, Insane, Unwell' - Megyn Kelly Tweet Blasts Trans Advocates

Former Fox News host, onetime anchor of a short-lived NBC news program, and current conservative podcaster Megyn Kelly packed a volley of acrimony into a single tweet when she charged that advocates for the trans community stand for "awful abusive insanity" and are "unwell."

Kelly unleashed the thimbleful of excoriation while retweeting - and evidently responding to - a Twitter post by YouTube celebrity and transgender rights activist Zinnia Jones who, in turn, was commenting on the UK legal case brought by Keira Bell, a 23-year-old British woman who is suing the National Health Service for supposedly not doing enough to talk her out of using puberty blockers in her teen years.

Bell's contention is that the National Health Service should have "challenged" her more forcefully when, as a teen, she expressed a desire to transition to male. Reporting on the suit, the BBC said that Bell's lawyers are arguing that "children cannot give informed consent to treatment delaying puberty or helping them to transition."

Zinnia Jones, commenting on that line of reasoning, contended in a Dec. 2 tweet that "An inability to offer informed consent or understand the long-term consequences is actually an argument for putting every single cis and trans person on puberty blockers until they acquire that ability."

Almost two weeks after Jones' post, on Dec. 13, Kelly retweeted Jones' remark, adding her own two cents: "It's time to stop being afraid. Fight this awful abusive insanity. Children must be protected from these unwell activists."
