Armie Hammer's Uber-Christian Mom: He Has 'Demonic Behaviors'

READ TIME: 3 MIN.

Paige Lorenze, who claims Armie Hammer branded her with the letter 'A,' during their four-month long relationship, told Dr. Mehmet Oz on his show what she knew about the actor's relationship with his mother. Hammer has seen his career all but evaporate in the past two months over reports of his BSDM behavior, drug use and talk of his cannibalistic desires.

In a report on Page Six, the 22-year old college student who dated Hammer last year claims the actor's mother once told her he has "demonic behaviors."

She did not know if Hammer's mother, Dru Ann Hammer, née Mobley, knew of any of the behavior he has been accused of since Instagrammer @houseofeffie posted screenshots of Hammer's messages that included accusations of BSDM and cannibalism.

"Well, she never specifically said anything to me because I don't think she wanted to assume," Lorenze, 22, began. "But she literally just said things like, 'he has demonic behaviors, the devil was trying to take him,' things like that," Lorenze claimed.

"I didn't grow up extremely religious, so that was a little bit out of touch for me, but I did get a feeling from her like she knew that he had a very, very dark side."

Last July, Hammer posted then deleted a tweet in which he described his mother's behavior. "I woke up sound 5 am this morning to my mom pouring oil on my head and praying very loudly in tongues while standing over my bed so she could get the 'demons out' of me."

Whether the tweet was real or not is speculation.

"The tweet posted in good humor seems to have been taken in a different context and has been trending on Twitter. Fans allege it was tweeted from his account but speculations are rife it could be fake," writes the website meawwcom.

Dru Ann Mobley Hammer is a key figure in the Hammer family history, according to a lengthy Washington Post profile written in 1996. She married Michael Hammer, grandson of oil magnate and philanthropist Armand Hammer, in 1985. The elder Hammer had groomed his grandson to run his business and philanthropy after his death in 1990 at the age of 92. But the devoutly Christian Lu Ann was instrumental in changing the direction of Hammer's philanthropic endeavors, away from cancer research and the arts to supporting evangelical groups. Hammond and Dru Ann divorced in 2012 after 27 years of marriage.

Hammer was said to have been disowned by his parents when he announced he wanted to become an actor in his late teens, but they later reconciled when they saw how serious he was, according to a 2018 profile on the website Los Angeles Confidential. He was able to become financially independent of his parents at the age of 19. "I'm so thankful that from a young age, I've never had to take anything from anybody. You never get to take money without something attached to it, so I didn't want those encumbrances. I wanted to live my life without anyone telling me what to do, and that's meant everything."

Hammer reflected upon growing up as part of dynastic family in an interview for the website Mr. Porter.

"There is that misconception that, 'Oh, you grew up in a wealthy family so you must have got it easier.' I probably had opportunities that other people didn't have. But I guarantee that other people didn't have [parents] beating into their skull that they were the 'representation of the family'. That was not the easiest pill to swallow. People might look at me and think my life is so perfect, but everybody wrestles with the same demons."

He also acknowledged that it was his mom who was "the strict parent growing up." Asked what she would think of his gay role in "Call Me By Your Name," Hammer said, "It's always awkward to say, 'Come to this movie where you can see my ass and watch me give a blow job.' My mum is more conservative. I don't know if she'll see it."

Hammer is currently living on Grand Cayman Island where, according to another Page Six report, is "seemingly unfazed by the stories surrounding his recent 'cannibal' scandal, a source exclusively told Page Six."

"It's quite horrifying, to be honest. [He] walks up and down West Bay Road with no shirt or shoes, without a care in the world," our source said of his alleged demeanor. "Always boisterous and obnoxious and full of himself."

His estranged wife, Elizabeth, whom he is divorcing, also is living on the island with their two children.
