Alan Scott, DC Comic's original Green Lantern, is returning to mainstream comics as a gay man with two children, according to Bleeding Cool.

In the publication of "Infinite Frontier," the Scott character is a gay man who, after having lost his boyfriend, transforms into Green Lantern. In one scene he explains to his children, "back in an earlier time I kept a part of myself hidden from my friends and peers.

"I even let myself get married a few times to women I did love with all my mind, but I did that knowing there was something about myself I was hiding away."

At the behest of his superhero family, Scott continues, "I'm gay. I let a few of the boys in society know back in the day, and I've had a good deal of... friends over the years."

Wonder Women concludes, "How incredibly brave of Alan."

The story was written by James Tynion IV, who teased Scott's homosexuality in the "Green Lantern 80th Anniversary Special" last year. Next month, a Green Lantern live-action series for HBO Max will begin filming with an openly gay Scott.
