Colton Underwood Ex Cassie Randolph Was In the Dark About His Sexuality

What did Cassie Randolph know and when did she know it? That was a big follow-up question to her ex-boyfriend and "Bachelor" contestant Colton Underwood's coming out last week, and it took a week for her (or someone) to answer it.

People Magazine reports that "when he revealed he was gay in a bombshell Good Morning America interview on April 14, Cassie Randolph was as surprised as anyone."

"Cassie found out Colton is gay the same time that everyone else did," a source tells People of the speech pathologist, who split from Underwood last year. "She's still processing it."

While vacationing in Mexico, Randolph posted a message on April 16 to her Instagram Stories that read: "Thank you everyone for the kind comments and messages. It means so much." She also added a link to her YouTube channel promising a new video. "And yes, some of you are asking about my YouTube for this week. I decided to take the week off, but will have one again next week!!"

Whether or not she will address her now much reported and issue-related relationship with Underwood remains to be seen, but it has put a dark edge on the sunny scenario of Underwood's coming out. Underwood "jumped the fence" when he pursued Randolph after she decided to leave "The Bachelor" in 2018. She agreed to return to the show as long as he did not propose to her. After the show's conclusion, the pair had a two-year relationship, which ended in May 2020. In September, Randolph took out a restraining order against Underwood after she found him stalking her and having placed a tracking device on her car. In November, she removed the order.

"During his chat with Roberts, he explicitly apologized to Randolph for his behavior and how he treated her," OK! Magazine reported. " 'I got into a place with my personal life that was dark and bad, and I can list a bunch of different things, but they'd all be excuses,' he said of their controversial split. 'I'd like to say sorry for how things ended. I messed up. I made a lot of bad choices.'"

OK! continued: "Underwood added that he was in love with Randolph, which made figuring out his sexuality all the more difficult. 'I loved everything about her and it's hard for me to articulate exactly what my emotions were in going through that relationship with her, because I obviously had an internal fight going on,' he said.

Because of the restraining order and Randolph's claims of harassment, a Change.org petition was created asking Netflix not to continue with plans to film a reality series about Underwood coming out. It read in part: "On Good Morning America, he (Underwood) came out as gay, and held an interview regarding his sexuality. Colton is a former bachelor lead who stalked his final pick, Cassie Randolph. He placed a tracker on her car, sent her and her friends anonymous threatening texts, and was even seen standing outside her window extremely late in the night, resulting in her brother attempting to de-escalate the situation. Cassie is a victim of Colton's abuse, and he does not deserve a platform in any way. Regardless of his sexuality, Colton should not be given a platform as a result of his abusive, manipulative, and dangerous behavior."
