SyFy's 'Chucky' to Have Gay Main Character

The new upcoming "Chucky" horror series, "The Legacy of Chucky" on Syfy, will reportedly feature an LGBTQ+ main character.
As reported by GayTimes, the series follows "teenager Jake Weber (Zachary Arthur) who is struggling with his sexuality in a small suburban town."
After he finds a Chucky doll at a yard sale ... You can guess the rest.
"Horrific murders begin to occur, changing the town and its residents forever," reports Gay Times. "This new show will mark the first time that an LGBTQ+ teen character has taken lead in the series."
"The Legacy of Chucky" creator Don Mancini recently shared that changing the age of the main character to be a teen was a major plot for the series.
"It's something we hadn't done that much of since "Child's Play 3," but I wanted to switch it up ... I thought focusing on young teens would be a new twist and to see how Chucky interacts with them," said Mancini, GayTimes reports.
A gay crush main character Jake has for fellow student Devon Evans (Bjorgvin Arnarson) is also a major part of the plot line.
"There are a lot of great scenes between Zach Arthur as Jake and his friend and crush Devon Evans," said Mancini.
Alongside the LGBTQ+ inclusion, fans of the horror franchise can expect the return of characters from previous installments.
Brad Dourif, the original voice actor of the psychotic doll, is expected to reprise his role along with Jennifer Tilly, Alex Vincent, and Christine Elis.
