After dancing around the nature of his controversial HIV/AIDS comments at the Rolling Loud Festival in Miami, DaBaby took to Instagram to share an official apology to the LGBTQ+ community for his "hurtful" and "triggering" homophobia.

"Social media moves so fast that people want to demolish you before you even have the opportunity to grow, educate, and learn from your mistakes," the rapper wrote on Instagram.

He's not wrong. Soon after making what many celebrities have described as "ignorant" and shocking comments about living with HIV – including Madonna, Elton John and Dua Lipa – DaBaby was booted from Lollapalooza and most recently dropped from the Governors Ball Festival.

In his apology, DaBaby related his own struggles to overcome adversity to the challenges LGBTQ people face.

"As a man who has had to make his own way from very difficult circumstances, having people I know publicly working against me – knowing that what I needed was education on these topics and guidance – has been challenging," said DaBaby. "I appreciate the many people who came to me with kindness, who reached out to me privately to offer wisdom, education, and resources. That's what I needed and it was received."

And it's what everyone deserves. Read the full statement from DaBaby below.
