Recently Married Lesbian Couple Murdered, Dismembered in Juárez

The bodies of a recently-married lesbian couple from El Paso were found dismembered and stuffed into trash bags in the border town of Ciudad Juárez, according to El Paso news station KVIA.

The remains of El Paso residents Julissa Ramírez and Nohemí Medina Martínez "were discovered Sunday in garbage bags on a highway outside Ciudad Juárez," which is located just across the U.S.-Mexico border from El Paso, the New York post detailed.

"The couple, who were believed to be in their late 20s and got married last summer, had last been seen by family the day before the grim discovery," the newspaper added.

The account said they were visiting relatives in Mexico, and added that Ramírez and Martínez were parents to "two girls and a boy."

The couple were among four known fatalities – all women – that took place in Juárez over the weekend, reports noted.

"Police found a second pair of women in bags dumped in a different neighborhood on Monday," KVIA noted. One "was found dead at the scene. The second woman was found alive, crying. According to Juárez officials, she later died."

KVIA added that the second pair of victims, who remain unidentified, "were both tortured and shot."

Ciudad Juárez "is notorious for its drug violence, public killings and gruesome murders of women – labeled femicides by the government," added the New York Post.

11 women and more than 50 men have been slain in Juárez since the start of 2022, the article said.
