Andy Cohen is coming clean about his infamous rant during CNN's New Year's Eve special, which he hosted with his bestie Anderson Cooper.

Appearing on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Cohen fessed up to being drunk on TV and not remembering his remarks about former New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. He said the departing mayor was doing the "crappiest job ever" as mayor of New York.

"[Anderson Cooper and I] got in the car after [the CNN special] and I saw on Twitter the rant I did about de Blasio," said Cohen. "And I did not recall – though it was about 40 minutes earlier – saying, 'Sayonara, sucka' to the outgoing mayor of New York."

Cohen said he needed his bestie to confirm what had just happened. "I go,'Oh, my God I said, 'Sayonara, sucka.' And he said, 'Yes, you did!'"

But what viewers saw in the end was Cohen having fun while ringing in a new year, and he said he won't apologize for it.

"Listen, I will not be shamed for having fun on New Year's Eve. That's why I'm there. That's why they bring me there," Cohen said. "It's a four and a half hour show. ... Everyone's focusing on kind of the last 45 minutes or hour we were on the air. [The booze] kicked into high gear with 45 minutes left. We'd done 15 interviews before that point. And I won't be shamed for it."
