Buzz Grows for Harry Styles Film 'My Policeman' after Test Screening

Pop singer and nascent movie star Harry Styles is getting leading man buzz after a March 7 test screening in San Diego of his rom-com "My Policeman," which centers on a bisexual (or, at least, bi-curious) police officer, GC reported.
"We still don't have a release date, and the official status of the film hasn't changed, but if the first reviews are to be trusted – and do take them with a grain of salt – we could be in for a good one," GQ relayed.
"Allegedly those at the screening were 'raving about how good it is,'" the article went on to say, "emphasizing [the film's' 'gorgeous visuals' and 'amazing' acting across the board."
"A contextless Gif quotes Styles saying 'I'm quite versatile,' and... well, you don't exactly have to read between the lines," the account continued. "Most importantly, there are 'arse cheeks.'"
GQ offered a summarized that "My Policeman" is about "a clandestine queer romance between Styles' titular cop, Tom, and a museum curator."
"Just to sweeten an already tantalizing cast sheet, Emma Corrin also stars as Tom's beleaguered wife, Marion, left behind while he pursues his secretive gay fling," GQ continued.
The screenplay is by openly gay writer Ron Nyswaner, whose credits include the script for "Philadelphia," 1993 AIDS drama starring Tom Hanks.
GQ noted that Amazon Studios, which is producing the film, may be looking for an illustrious, awards-worthy film in the LGBTQ+ niche, pointing out that "filmgoers were polled in advance on a number of high-profile queer films – think: 'Brokeback Mountain,' 'Call Me By Your Name,' 'Milk' – the logical conclusion being that Amazon is angling for a similar prestige movie vibe."
Styles has had two film roles already: He appeared in Christopher Nolan's 2017 film "Dunkirk," and he also appeared – briefly, in the post-credits scene – in last year's "Eternals," directed by Chloé Zhao.
Still coming up for the fledgeling thesp: "Don't Worry Darling," a thriller from director (and movie star in her own right) Olivia Wilde.
