Is Gaga Headed for a 'Bad Romance' as Harley Quinn in 'Joker 2?'

Could Lady Gaga be headed for the mother monster of all bad (or at least bad guy) romances?
The "Born This Way" singer is said to be in talks to portray Harley Quinn in Todd Phillips' sequel to "Joker," his 2019 blockbuster starring Joaquin Phoenix as the titular baddie. The part could be a natural for Gaga, since, as Variety reported, the sequel – titled "Joker: Folie a Deux" – is going to be a musical.
"Speculation that Harley Quinn would appear in the movie first bubbled to the surface after Phillips posted the cover of the screenplay to Instagram on June 7," Variety detailed.
"The subtitle, Folie à Deux, refers to a shared delusional disorder, and Joker's only real companion – other than Batman, anyway – has been Quinn, a character first created for 'Batman: The Animated Series' in the early 1990s."
Saying that it's "another bold stroke by Phillips" to make the sequel a musical, Variety imparted that there's no word as of yet as to whether a deal for Gaga to play The Joker's love interest would include an original song or two, "but it's a safe bet that it's at least on the table."
Variety took note that "Gaga worked with Phillips in his capacity as one of the producers of 2018's 'A Star Is Born,' which earned Gaga an Oscar nomination for best actress – and an Oscar win for original song."
