Omar Apollo Drops His Skincare Routine

We saw Omar Apollo in concert recently, and one thing that kept popping into our head that night was: "Damn, that boy glows."

You can imagine our delight, then, when Apollo made a video for GQ detailing exactly what he uses to achieve that perfectly glowy skin. The verdict? Not too shabby.

Cleanser

Youth To The People Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser

This is a modern classic with a cult following containing cold-pressed antioxidants to remove makeup, prevent buildup in pores, and support the skin's pH balance. Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In-One AHA Lactic Acid Treatment

Another dependable choice in Apollo's skincare arsenal, this beloved product hydrates and exfoliates simultaneously, and can clarify blemishes and improve the appearance of wrinkles. For good measure, there's also some licorice and lemongrass to improve skin discoloration, and prickly pear extract, which can soothe the appearance and calm any redness. $85-$122, sephora.com.

Mist

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

"I love misting, I got some of my friends into misting," Apollo shares in the video. This ultra-luxurious mist from Tatcha is another impressive choice, one that he applies both before his moisturizer (which everyone should be doing, TBH) and as needed throughout the day. Containing more than 20% botanical oils, this may not be the best option for people with oily skin, but the mist is delicate enough that it won't feel like you're spraying Pam on your face. The impressive thing about this is that it contains a proprietary complex of Okinawa red algae and hyaluronic acid, which essentially turn your face into a moisture magnet. There's also something called "hadesei-3," which is an anti-aging complex of green tea, rice, and algae, that help keep your skin looking youthful. $20-$48, sephora.com.

Moisturizer

Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream

In the video, Apollo says that he uses Tatcha's Rice Cream, but that product has been revamped into The Dewy Skin Cream, which has the same base of Japanese purple rice, which is said to be able to withstand any harsh environment. On the skin, it can aid in recovery and helps protect against stress, pollution, and UV damage. There are other great things in here, like the same algae blend that's found in the mist, and a slew of botanical extracts that help the skin retain moisture and give it a dewy glow. Sunscreen

Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40

You have no idea how thrilled we were to see that Apollo protects his skin every day with a quality sunscreen, like this popular Supergoop! formulation. There's a new tint that was just released called Golden Hour, but it appears as though Apollo uses the original version, called Sunrise. Our only complaint here is that he isn't applying nearly enough, and he applies it only to certain areas of his face, à la Gwyneth Paltrow. But still, daily sunscreen use from a 25 year old? Nighttime

Lancôme Génifique Radiance Boosting Face Serum

This is the only glimpse that Apollo gives us into his nighttime routine, though he does admit that he doesn't use it daily. This is a decent product, but one that doesn't really merit the hefty price tag. The main ingredients are bifidus prebiotic, which helps to make your skin a good environment for good bacteria; hyaluronic acid, which is great, but is also found in his Tatcha moisturizer; and Vitamin C, which is actually best applied to your skin in the morning. Overall, this isn't doing him any harm, but it probably isn't doing him any favors, either. $78-$229, sephora.com.

Humidifier

While he doesn't explicitly state which brand he uses, we're going to go right ahead and recommend Canopy, which is the easiest, cleanest, most effective humidifier for the skin we've found. (To be fair, Apollo uses his primarily for his voice, but acknowledges its benefits for the skin). Canopy is terrific because it doesn't harbor bacteria like most outdated humidifiers, and it's chic enough to not be an eyesore on your nightstand. Your plants will love it, too. $150, Canopy.
