Reason Revealed for JoJo Siwa's 'Rudest Celeb' Dig at Candace Cameron Bure

Former "The View" co-host Candace Cameron Bure had "no idea" why JoJo Siwa flashed her photo when listing who she thought was the "rudest celebrity" she had encountered. With a little digging, the truth came to light.

People Magazine reported that Bure, 46, took to Instagram to say that she was "shocked" by the diss, which Siwa posted to TikTok on July 24.

As EDGE previously reported, in her TikTok post Siwa "flashed celebrity photos and put them in the categories of 'rudest,' 'nicest,' and her 'crush,' among others."

"When it came time for Siwa to choose the 'rudest,' she named none other than self-described kind Christian and 'Fuller House' star" Bure.

Added the previous article: "Siwa and Bure both competed on 'Dancing With the Stars' on separate seasons and Siwa did attend the 'Fuller House' premiere, so it is unclear when the rude interaction took place."

Unclear to the world at large – and to Bure, too, as it turned out.

"Honestly, I was shocked when I saw the TikTok on Sunday," Bure says in the video she posted to Instagram, adding that she "had no idea where it came from."

After detailing the ways in which she sought to contact Siwa – "I immediately tried to reach out to her through mutual friends, and my publicist contacted her manager, and I DM'd her because I didn't know what happened" – Bure finally got in touch with the 19-year-old entertainer on the morning of July 26.

"I called her," Bure recounted, "and we had a great conversation. She was like, 'Hey, how you doin'?' I kind of said, 'Well, I've been better! Um, what happened?'"

Siwa was initially reluctant to explain her reasons, and said that the post had been part of "a silly TikTok trend" that she had not expected to "go viral" and "didn't think... was a big deal."

But Bure pressed her point: "It was a big deal! But... what did I do to you?"

Then Siwa spilled the tea.

"She actually didn't want to tell me because she said it's so silly, she felt bad," Bure narrated.

But then Siwa said: "I met you at the 'Fuller House' premiere when I was 11 years old, and we were all on the red carpet."

"I had come up to you and said, 'Can I have a picture with you?' and you said to me, 'Not right now,' and then proceeded to do what you were doing, and take pictures with other people on the red carpet."

Bure said she expressed her regret to Siwa over the years-gone slight, telling her, "I kind of broke your 11-year-old heart! I didn't take a picture with you! I feel crummy. JoJo, I'm so sorry!"

For her part, Siwa told Bure "I get it now," noting the chaos "when you're on the red carpet and everything's happening and you're being pulled in different directions, but at that time I was 11."

Bure reiterated her apology, saying, "Please know, especially, as a mom, it breaks my heart that I made you feel that way," and adding, "I know if anyone crosses my kids, mama bear comes out."

"So that was it," Bure went on to say. "All good on the JoJo front" – though she also noted that "even a 10-second trending TikTok video can do damage because our words matter, and our actions matter."

"We all influence the people around us," Bure added, asking her fans to "be mindful" about that.
