EDGE Rewind: Watch: Was There Something More to that Gay Kiss in '365 Days' Sequel?

READ TIME: 2 MIN.

EDGE is reaching into its archive and sharing some of our favorite stories from the past.

Netflix realized they had such a hit with its steamy soap "365 Days" that it quickly greenlit two sequels – "365 Days: This Day" and "The Next 365 Days," both starring Italian hunk Michele Morrone. Their hunch paid off with the third in the series. "The Next 365 Days" has trended in their top five releases since it was released last month.

The series has been problematic, as the Daily Beast pointed out in its review, due to the narrative: Sicilian crime boss named Massimo (Morrone) kidnaps a Polish woman named Laura (Anna-Maria Sieklucka) and imprisons her for 365 days, during which he pledges to force her to fall in love with him. "He sexually terrorizes and intimidates her until, lo and behold, one day they have kinky sex–which they then do constantly until the movie ends."

"There were plenty of people who thought it was irresponsible for Netflix to give the movie a sequel, given the triggering nature of its violent sexual content," the Daily Beast said.

The first sequel, "365 Days: This Day," sees Morrone married to Sieklucka with erotic complications involving a hot gardener and a secret identical twin. By the third film, Sieklucka is involved with the hot gardener Nacho (Simone Susinna), and also realizes her marriage is toxic.

In a sexual fantasy sequence, she imagines a threesome with her husband and boyfriend in which the men passionately kiss. It was an embrace that started a meme suggesting that Morrone and Susinna were more than on-screen smooches. It is, to be sure, a very hot kiss, which has led to rumors that there's something going on off-screen between the two actors.

A mitigating factor was an Instagram post from Morrone that had the actors in a very intimate pose, which led to widespread speculation the pair were a couple. Morrone quashed the rumors in June with a post to his IG stories: "This morning, I woke up with my team calling me and saying, 'Hey, there's a lot of articles...saying that you came out,' because of the picture I took with Simone. He became a very good friend of mine, we're like brothers. We're shooting a movie together. Guys, it was just a picture. Nothing more."

Both actors have extensive thirst-traps on their IG accounts:
