Carl Nassib has officially been put on the Buccaneers' roster once again, following the news that he was rejoining the team he was with before becoming the first openly gay active player in the NFL.

Nassib "was named to the Bucs' 53-player roster as an outside linebacker after the final cutdowns with the conclusion of the preseason," detailed LGBTQ+ athletics new source Outsports. "He has played his first six seasons in the NFL as a defensive end, but the Bucs feel he'll be productive for them as an OLB."

Outsports noted that in the preseason "Nassib played in a couple games and recorded two total tackles with one assist," and recalled that "Previously he started 17 games and recorded 63 tackles for the Bucs in 2018 and 2019 before heading to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he eventually came out publicly as gay."

As previously reported, the Bucs signed Nassib last month.

The 29-year-old player has "agreed to a one-year deal," according to ESPN, which broke the story.

"Nassib came out June 21 of last year in an Instagram post," USA Today said, "and also announced a $100,000 donation to the Trevor Project, which works to eliminate suicide cases among the LGBTQ+ community."
