EDGE Rewind:Singer Omar Apollo Puts Queerbaiting Speculation to Rest with Hilarious Tweet

Singer Omar Apollo took on speculation that he was queerbaiting with a humorous tweet that left nothing to the imagination, Uproxx reported.

The "Bad Life" singer tackled the question head-on, sharing a tweet that asked, "is omar apollo another queerbaiting singer? like those type 'i don't label myself let me wear cropped and paint my nails and i say i find another guy hot' cuz i like his song but i don't like supporting straight men doing queerbating."

In response, Apollo declared: "no i b sucking dick fr"

Apollo added: "from the back 💯"

"The 25-year-old singer has been on the rise in 2022 after the release of his debut studio album 'Ivory' back in April," Just Jared noted. "His song 'Evergreen' was sent to radio last month after going viral on TikTok and it has charted on the Billboard Hot 100."

"Omar recently received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2023 Grammy Awards and he's on track to becoming a big star."

Queerbaiting is the practice of suggesting that one is LGBTQ+ in order to attract attention from the community (or, in the case of the Netflix series "Wednesday," promoting a product as having an LGBTQ+ spin), but without meaningful followup. Pop star Harry Styles, whose fashion choices suggest an LGBTQ+ identity, responded to accusations of queerbaiting last summer when he told Rolling Stone magazine, "Sometimes people say, 'You've only publicly been with women,' and I don't think I've publicly been with anyone."

Added Styles: "If someone takes a picture of you with someone, it doesn't mean you're choosing to have a public relationship or something."

Styles was famously in a relationship with Olivia Wilde, who directed him in this year's film "Don't Worry Darling." However, the two recently broke up.
