Singer/songwriter Leopold Nunan releases the first single, "Quem é teu baby?/ Who is your baby?" from his debut album. "It's a sound that represents my roots with a mix of afro, native sound with pop rock influences. It's highly percussive and uplifting. It's Global Music and I am ready to take on the World," says Nunan.

Leopold is one of the winners of the LGBTQIA+ Emerging Artist Award funded by the prestigious Music Forward Foundation + CITI that granted Leo with the money to finance the entire album. "I wouldn't be able to put together a body of work of 10 songs without this unbelievable opportunity".

The album, "Leo from Rio," the name by which the Los Angeles community knows him, arrives on streaming this year filled with samba, new bossa, jazz and rock. On the album, the majority of the arrangements and instruments were created by Brazilian prodigy Alberto Menezes.

The album is a tribute to Nunan's's father who passed away seven years ago. He bequeathed his son a legacy of more than 300 rare records by giants of Brazilian popular music, Sergio Mendes, Gal Costa, Vinicius de Moraes, Azimuth, João Donato, Elza Soares, Jorge Benjor and others. Nunan found a surprise in the collection, an original album from Sonia Santos released in 1977, months after she recorded this feature in Nunan's track

"I cried so hard after finding this relic and called Sonia and Ana immediately," reveals Nunan.
"I am going back to the basics, all instruments are played by musicians. I had a chance to produce a sound that is a legit homage to my roots and ancestors."

Singer, composer, dancer, actor and voice actor, Nunan, also known as "Leo From Rio," has sung with Lady Miss Kier of Deee Lite, Chaka Khan and Sheila E at the iconic Long Beach Gay Pride. He has headlined major stages singing live for thousands at the LA County Fair, DTLA PROUD/LA Pride, Queer Mercado, WEHO Pride, The Hollywood Carnival and Brazilian Carnaval. He was also a fan favorite on the Food Network's hit show for two seasons, "Worst Cooks in America." In Brazil, he sang for 24 million live viewers on Fernanda Lima's "Amor e Sexo" TV Show, making a historic tribute to Cazuza.

Nunan ghostwrites and releases music for Meta's Facebook under the name "Leo From Rio" and has "gone viral" with hit songs like "LGBTQIA+", "Pista Eletrica" and "Eu tive em Copa."
