2023 Rewind: Check Out a Glistening Cody Fern in Instagram Thirst Trap

READ TIME: 7 MIN.

This piece is part of EDGE's 2023 Rewind series. We're reaching into our archives and sharing some of our favorite stories from the past year.

Among the regulars in Ryan Murphy's extensive stock company is Aussie actor Cody Fern. Since making his debut in "The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story" in 2018, the 34-year-old has appeared in three seasons of "American Horror Story" and two episodes of the anthology "American Horror Stories," all produced by Murphy. His most prominent role thus far was in "Apocalypse," Season 8 of "American Horror Story" in which he played Michael Langdon, who turned out to be no less than the Antichrist.

Fern has made his mark with his looks on the red carpet over the years, but what will likely get him a lot of views this week is a selfie posted to Instagram Stories in which he appears buff, naked and glistening, save for a strategically placed rose emoji over his private parts. Plenty of social media users reposted the pic on Twitter.

Fern recently told Decider he would love to return to the role of Langdon, which is certainly a possibility because "AHS" characters often crossover from one season to another. On "Apocalypse" Langdon was done in by the witches from "Coven."

"I mean, there's no question. I really loved playing Michael. I'm sure the fandom knows that, I bring him up all the time. But it was just a particular time in my life. It was a particular character, and everything just all felt so right. I really loved that character," Fern told Decider.

Fern also makes a considerable splash on various red carpets with his fashion sense – so much so he was named "Hollywood's new genderfuck rebel" by GQ in 2020. In an interview with the Australian publication Anthem Magazine, he cited the moment that led him to become an actor and change his life.

"I had just reached a point in my life where you have to stop worrying about what other people think...this idea of success and what success is, and what being an upstanding citizen means. I was just a miserable human being when I was working in finance. I hated my life. I hated where I was going. I hated every part of it and knew that I had to do something radical–and fast. I was looking down at people's lives and thinking, 'Wow. This is not what I want my life to be. But I'm here and I'm doing it and I'm trying to fit in.'"

Fern also spoke about what it was like moving to L.A.

"I didn't know anybody here, but it didn't take me too long to settle in. L.A.'s been very kind to me and I know L.A. can be a difficult city for some," he told Anthem. "I just made sure that I was in the company of good people–not just in the industry, but in general. I love every second of it. I'm just constantly surprised and excited by everything that's happening."
