Ex-Adult Male Star Seeks to Become Mayor of Small Spanish Town

A gay former adult film star is running for mayor in a rural Spanish village even though he only left the adult film industry six years ago, the Daily Star reports.

"Antonio Moreno – better known to adult movie fans as Hector de Silva – said he is alarmed by a plummeting population count in Carcelén, in the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha," located three hours from Madrid.

He moved to the small village after giving up porn to become a forest firefighter for the public company GEACAM in Castilla-La Mancha, which is responsible for preventing and extinguishing forest fires. He switched careers again and turned to farming.

"It was this work that allowed Antonio, now 38 years old, to feel more connected to the village of Carcelén after moving to the region six years ago," reports the Spanish language website Sur.

"I was born in the city of Albacete, but when I arrived here I fell in love with this village and its natural environment, which is spectacular," Moreno said.

The porn star-turned-livestock farmer, who lives with his partner in Carcelén, will run for mayor for the the Partido Popular (PP). The tiny town has 483 inhabitants.

Moreno told Sur that his family, "who supported me, knew about" his "past as a porn actor".

The fledgeling politician added that his past career in adult films "is a stage in my life that I don't regret because I learned a lot."

He says his focus is on "making Carcelén a better town."

He told Sur that the town "needs to improve in many things because it is very neglected, we have a very high IBI property tax, and there is less and less population because there is no work to attract families with children".

He added: "Carcelén has many possibilities because it has nature, heritage, and its August festivals that could be more widely known."

On 28 May he will face the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) candidate and current mayor, María Dolores Gómez Piqueras, who has governed the village since 2011.

"Everybody knew what I have been doing," Moreno said of the village's people, "and in any case, that is now in the past. Although it is not a secret."

The adult male titles "Hung Country 2," "Wet 2," "Wet Editor's Cut," and "Star Wars: A Gay XXX Parody" are amongst his 51 titles and scenes listed on the adult film database IAFD.com.

Moreno added: "When the PP came to me with the suggestion [that I run for mayor] I agreed, but I want to put together my own team for the campaign and chose people regardless of their political beliefs. By creating a group who are not worried about politics, we will be able to carry out projects for the people."
